Why Guadalajara, Mexico?
Guadalajara is centrally located to the poultry production areas through North and South America as well as Latin America. The climate in September is ideally suited for an enjoyable conference and will attract poultry industry representatives from around the world.
Guadalajara is Mexico’s second largest city. It is located Northwest of Mexico City, and is rich in history and culture. Here industry leaders can experience the beautiful colonial architecture, delicious Mexican foods, vibrant traditional music, and also enjoy the warm hospitality of the Mexican people.
Guadalajara is a city of large plazas. The main square, Plaza Tapatia is bordered by the Mercado Libertad, the largest covered market in Latin America. Guadalajara has done a marvelous job of linking its plazas with pedestrian zones, historical sights, museums and hotels. With September daytime temperatures reaching about 25 degrees C, it is a great city to discover on foot while basking in early autumn sunshine.
Guadalajara is one of Mexico’s fastestgrowing cities. Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonala, once separate villages, are today popular Guadalajaran suburbs, especially for shoppers searching for traditional Mexican crafts and goods.

Social Programs Planned
Monday 18 September
The Hospicio Cabañas was built at the beginning of the 19th century to provide care and shelter for humanitarian relief. This remarkable complex, which incorporates several unusual features designed specifically to meet the needs of its occupants, was unique for its time. In the early 20th century, the chapel was decorated with a superb series of murals, now considered some of the masterpieces of Mexican art. They are the work of José Clemente Orozco, one of the greatest Mexican muralists of the period.
Wednesday 20 September (Optional)
The IPC Delegates who wish to enjoy some of the spendors of Mexico are encouraged to stay and participate in the tour on Wednesday. Visit the unique world of Tequila and try Mexico’s national drink.
Thursday 21 September (Optional):
The Gala Banquet will be held in the Benavento Hacienda, a world class venue set in beautiful landscaped gardens.
Spouses Program
For those IPC Delegates bringing their spouses, a program has been designed to visit Tlaquepaque - for Mexican Arts & Crafts. Among the most popular items are: hand-blown glass products, ceramics, pottery, huaraches (a type of sandal), serapes, shawls, rugs, rustic furniture, embroidered goods, gold and silver jewelry, and wool blankets. The city of Tlaquepaque is one of the most important centers for craft production in Latin America. It has an attractive Historic City Center with stone-paved streets and colonial Mexican architecture.
